Slip casting is the process of pouring slip (liquid clay) into plaster molds and then pouring the slip back out into a bucket. The slip forms a skin which hardens to the leatherhard stage and it can then be taken out of the mold. Once firm, the seams are scraped and smoothed and then it is fired in the kiln. Once it comes out of the kiln it is now in the bisque stage.
